14th March, Wednesday 20:30 v Bonnybridge
Derrick let Joan skip to help her knee problem and it certainly didn't affect the result any as they beat Fintry 9 v 3. John's team had a harder task against Kilsyth but won it 9 v 6 in the end. Well done to all. A buffet was served in the restaurant afterwards and the trophy presented back to us for another year.
The matches against Crossmyloof were well contested despite both our teams winning 11 v 5. It is always a challenge getting the feel for another ice rink, made harder with our use of the National Curling Academy but both teams settled into the play well. A buffet was also had after this match, a curling platter, nice, but the Peak one is definitely better.
Our usual friendly but fiercely competitive game against Torbrex resulted in Torbrex regaining the trophy with rink 2 losing 7 v 10 and rink 1 being peels at 7 v 7. We went up to the restaurant for a drink and the trophy presentation after the game.
The Alex Reid tournament is a big challenge every season and this year Lauriston and Zetland had a new skip playing who cannily managed to deal with our first team to win by 3 shots. Our second team managed a whole lot better against Bonnybridge but the overall winner was Borestone and Stirling who won both games, the only club to do so.
